This week we debated:
On Tuesday, the House passed third reading of Bill 142, Construction Lien Amendment Act, 2017. As law, Bill 142 will improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the construction sector. The Bill includes prompt payment rules to ensure construction workers and businesses get properly compensated for their work.
Also on Tuesday, the House passed second reading of Bill 175, Safer Ontario Act, 2017. The Bill has been referred to the Standing Committee on Justice Policy. Anyone interested in speaking to the Bill should contact Clerk Christopher Tyrell by tel. 416-325-3883 or email: email@example.com.
Bill 180, Garrett's Legacy Act (Requirements for Movable Soccer Goals), 2017 co-sponsored by PC MPP Todd Smith and Liberal MPP Sophie Kiwala passed second reading unanimously in the House. The Bill would, if passed, mandate that all soccer goals be properly anchored to avoid potential injury.
Motion #77 sponsored by NDP MPP Catherine Fife calling for provide funding and a timeline for all day, two way GO rail service along the Kitchener GO rail line also passed in the House. The government has already made an historic $190 billion commitment to improving transit and transportation infrastructure across Ontario.
Bill 184, Liquor Licence Amendment Act (Maple Wine and Mead), 2017 sponsored by Liberal MPP Grant Crack also passed unanimously in the House. The Bill would, if passed, set out licence conditions that apply to the sale of maple wine or mead at a farmers’ market.
